Assessment Description
This assessment has two components, a team challenge (70% of Assessment 2 mark) and an individual reflection
(30% of Assessment 2 mark). Teamwork is an essential component of working in industry and tackling real world
challenges, so this assessment is designed to develop your teamwork skills, as well as your critical reflection
skills.
For the team challenge, you are asked to select one challenge under one of the themes discussed across the
weeks and join that team. Working with the team, you will scope your approach to the challenge, as well as
determining how the team will organise the workflow, including your roles and tasks. Each team member should
take responsibility for leading some aspect of the workflow.
Each team will be expected to present its immersive design intervention proposal to peers and industry guests.
The presentation must be recorded (e.g. voiceover on PowerPoint, Prezi, etc.) and be 8-10 minutes in length and
will outline the problem, the team approach and the proposed immersive design solution. Teams may also
showcase any additional simulation, VR/AR/MR working prototypes, etc. This is optional. All assessments will be
based on the concepts and proposals described in the presentation.
The second component of this assignment consists of a personal critical reflection (800- 1000 words) describing
the role you took in the team process, how you feel the team operated as a group and any observations you feel
would have facilitated better team interaction. The reflection will also contain an analysis of your team’s final
solution proposal in relation to the readings and teachings across the course, which should be cited using APA
formatting.

How to Complete this Assessment
1. By the start of Week 6, select one of the challenges under the themes considered during the weekly
sessions and join the related team.
2. In Week 6 and 7, together with your team, scope the design approach to the challenge, and teamwork
agreement including your specific roles and tasks.
3. In Week 7 and 8, conduct and document your research, any models, simulations, sketches and/or rapid
prototypes, technical or otherwise, in response to this immersive design challenge.
4. In Week 9, your team will present your work in progress (WIP) immersive design proposal to your peers
outlining:
a. the perceived problem
b. the team approach and reasoning
c. and the immersive design processes utilised to scope a solution space.
Peers will give feedback on clarity and approach (NB this may be synchronous or asynchronous). Teams
may also demonstrate their intervention via a simulation or other immersive platform.
5. In week 11, your team will submit a final recorded presentation for marking (8–10 minutes, mp4 format).
6. You will also submit an individual personal critical reflection (800–1000 words) due two days after the
team submission, discussing:
a. the role you took in the team and how you feel the team worked together. What challenges were
there in working in this team and how did you overcome these?
b. an analysis of your team’s final design proposal and choices in relation to the readings and
teachings across the course, which should be cited using APA formatting.
Course Learning Outcomes addressed in this task
1. Recognise complexity and analyse wicked problems facing industry and society.
2. Negotiate, facilitate and lead collaborative problem-solving processes using constructive design and
design thinking.
3. Use visualisation, simulation and immersive practices to sketch and rapidly prototype design solutions to
complex and wicked problems.
How you will receive feedback for this task
You will receive formal feedback within two weeks of the submission date.
